Susie Skinner is a storyteller who works with theatre and music. A graduate actor of Flinders Drama Centre, Susie was a guest at the 5th International Women’s Playwrights Conference 2000 in Athens, and subsequently developed and wrote a number of theatre works with and for communities. Ensemble member of The Yashchin Ensemble she performed in the award winning adaptation of I Only Came to Use the Phone by Gabriel Garcia Marquez at the 2008 Adelaide Fringe. Bass player with Problem Pony, a country/folk/blues 4-piece, Susie performed at the 2005 Adelaide Cabaret Festival and 2006 National Folk Festival. She was the Artistic Director of D’faces of youth arts in Whyalla, South Australia from 2007 to 2010. Susie was a performance mentor for Big hARTs Yijala Yala project in the Pilbara in 2010/11. In 2012 she undertook a professional development opportunity with the Coriolis Effect; a cultural leadership program of live art in regional Australia developed by Country Arts SA and Punctum Inc. Consequently she produced A Wake – Susie’s first solo live art work premiering at Kumuwuki The National Regional Arts Conference in Goolwa. In 2013/14 Susie was a mentor for members of Wet Paint a young peoples theatre project in Goolwa, South Australia. In 2015 Susie directed No Shame by Owen Love in Goolwa and presented a new solo work Whole of the Moon as a part of Country Arts South Australia This is a River. In 2016 she directed Murray the Musical for the community of Milang. Susie is currently teaching Music at Catherine House and working on another boat project for Alexandrina Council, Singing Helen Home to Goolwa.
